Never again
I can see the little flickers
burning through the night.
the eerie moon still lingers
but my hands are out of sight.
I run anywhere to no where
it's all a lab rats maze.
I am the only one aware
of the endless starry days.
I can’t drag the sun back to noon
or hide the dark away.
it chokes my life in its plume
and chomps with its decay.
on it went with one last purge
so this time I wouldn’t stand.
I saw a lick of yellow emerge
and a soft glow on my hand.
I sat up like I had seen a ghost
and then watched the cover burn
my world was now exposed
as I let the sun light return
and as I drifted off today
the devil was further yesterday
but still I accepted his light.
and no more teases.
and no more fear.
and no more traps.
and as my body crumbled to the beauty,
my final few moments
where a dream.
