Brown Eyes
Those deep brown eyes that caused her to melt.
They held an unwavering gaze and she loved the way it felt.
They danced and glistened like pools of honey
Sweet and warm.
They still shined even when it wasn't sunny.
They held specks like a starry sky kissing the top of the sea.
They closed and locked like a painful goodbye and seemed to decide her destiny.
She didn't know where she'd seen a light so bold, not just from the sky, but within their eyes,
As their stare took hold.

I wrote this poem late at night while I was feeling insecure and alone. I have dark brown eyes and there are some days when I wish they could just change color and be a beautiful green or blue. This poem helps me realize that brown eyes can be just as beautiful.
