Amarillo
Yellow
Yellow
Yellow
The bright yellow of the sun blinds me from seeing reality,
Disquietly everything is not as warm and bright.
My spirit consumed by the darkness of my peers,
My once reality slowly turning into a mere fantasy.
Yellow sky
Yellow soul
Expectations now have changed,
Everyone dreams the same.
The color yellow now a primary color,
No longer different on its own,
No longer able to stand alone.
Yellow house
Yellow car
Unable to remember the reality from before,
My brain now standardly wired.
Going through the motions,
Living unfulfillingly for “me”.
The only way I could dream like before is,
If I dream in a different color.

My piece was inspired by a photograph of a yellow car captured by William Eggleston
