Why Are You Still Here?
I can still hear your laugh.
The booming roar across a room,
the calming chuckle over the phone,
your small snorts I grew to love.
I can still hear your laugh.
Telling myself to smile,
to wipe the tears away
has become an uphill battle.
Telling myself these lies are worse
than ones you rehearsed before.
Saying your torturous name,
viewing your horrid photos
has shattered my aching heart.
But waking up without your soul
has ruined me.
I can still see your face.
The blush red cheeks,
your thousands of freckles,
and your crooked smile.
I can still see your face.
But I don’t even cross your mind.
