Sepia
Sometimes I think back to when
I'd suddenly feel
as if I was I was traversing
through an amber shaded jelly.
Movements thick and sloppy,
everything slowed down and relaxed.
The world suddenly became
my calm sepia paradise.
Harmful thoughts
could not hurt
my innocent mind,
harmful words
faded into
the nostalgic air.
But such memories may only be reached
through the eyes of childhood.
The daring innocence of a warm filter
covered the harsh cold truth
of a broken home
amidst a sheltered mind.
