Seeing You Again
I look at myself in the mirror as I put my black tie on
Realizing in that moment that you were really gone.
As I feel the silk from the tie running through my fingers
A tear falls down my cheek
I start to think of all the memories that we had
How it all ended so bad.
My only wish is to go back in time and rewind
Just to feel your hand touching mine
Or even to just hear you breathe.
I walk out my house and I look up into the sky
It’s a bright sunny day.
I get in my car and look at the passenger's seat
Thinking of all our car rides and how you were so sweet.
My heart is aching and you are no longer here
The last thing I said to you was that I hated you and I wish you would die
Sadly that wish came true and now you are dead
There is nothing I can do about it
But to only wish that you were still here.
Thinking of the happy times
As I put my key into the ignition for the car to start
I slowly start to feel a sharp pain in my heart
My eyes start to close and it feels like death isn’t to far away
I quickly start to pray
But I always knew I would be seeing you again someday.

Author's Bio:
I am currently a sophomore at Saint Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey taking a slam poetry class, my second elective in writing as a high school student. I enjoy writing poems about realistic things so that the reader can relate and feel what I am writing. The poems I write usually have a deep meaning that isn’t too hard to catch and will definitely hit home for some. I have been writing poetry since the 6th grade and I enjoy the work I create.
