Virtual Catastrophe
Some say there’s a darkness of the night
That haunts you and leaves only when it wants to
Mommy and daddy try to say that it isn’t true
But she know what she’s seen,
Her eyes don’t lie to her, for the truth is bright
She’s seen vampires, ghosts, and people with three eyes
She’s seen spiders climbing out of walls and bats in the skies
She’s seen zombies, meteors heading for earth
and some things she can’t even describe
It feels like she’s trapped with no way to escape
No matter how much she cries, yells, and screams
for someone to save her who’s wearing a cape
Even when she wakes up and realises it was all just a dream
She still gets chased by the darkness of the night
Because the darkness doesn’t leave when you’re not asleep
It still feels like it haunts her on the days that it doesn’t
that even when it’s gone it’s still somehow there
with her in her head as she begins to decent
into thoughts for which she’d rather not bare
Every night is a game of chance
Win and you’re free, lose and you’re trapped
Most days she loses, but sometimes she wins the fights
So I darkness, I ask of you just one simple thing
Make her heart shine bright, and let her win tonight
