Storm
An umbrella, something so simple
to keep the sun away,
to keep the rain away,
to keep out daily pain.
Drop after drop of water falling from the sky,
Each one getting louder than I can take.
Then comes the wind, for which the rain warned.
Wiping me out, time and time again.
But after each storm,
I am left with the balmy, unbreathable air
for which the umbrella was no use.
