A knight in anguish

Left behind to rot and decay

Appears to languish

Like a sunflower on a cloudy day

Locked in a fortress of torment

No longer the master of his mind

He makes the slow descent

Into the strange underworld of those whom pain has made blind

A caged emissary he has become

Existing between one second and the next

His heart beating like a drum

In his misery, so utterly perplexed

In the deepest part of the underworld

He inhales the musty air

Lays down, cold and furled

Grasping at his chest, where there lies a tear

His heart has left its chamber

His soul is splintered and bare

His spirit now much tamer

Left with nothing but a prayer
