A Letter to My Future Daughter
Pay attention.
Watch the way the breeze shifts the leaves
and how the clouds drift slowly above us.
Do no get so distracted by life that you forget
that time refuses to stop,
no matter how much you plea.
And there will be moments you wish to repeat
that you will never get back
and times you cannot wait for something to be over.
But what about the mundane?
What about the casual trips to the mall
and greeting your dogs every time you come home?
Remember those.
Because time is like a tree-
It seems to be tall and everlasting,
through seasons of roughness
the flowers always return,
but the branches will end
and the same leaf can never fall off twice.
Time longs to be appreciated,
admired like she is the most beautiful thing in the universe,
and maybe she is.
