To My Little Brother
To my little brother
I would like to formally warn you not to grow up.
It’s a complete scam.
They say: you’ll have freedom, money, and happiness.
You’ll have enough freedom to work or go to school,
you’ll have money only to spend on the government,
and you’ll have the pursuit of happiness but who knows when you will get it.
Please stay young, innocent and adorable.
I’ll keep protecting you from the monsters under your bed.
Get excited to watch cartoons with you.
Help you reach a cup in the tall cupboard.
Have mini concerts in the living room, belting the words to “your welcome” from moana.
I will make your lunch and clean up after you without complaint, even though you’re getting to the age you won’t need any help at all.
But one day you will grow up, you’ll be taller than me and then i’ll be the one asking you for help to reach things that are too tall.
