Ambiguous

A shadow in the light of a normal day

it remains hidden in the normalities of every single day

Keywords bring it about in small, short conversations

And devolves it into fragments of misunderstanding:

Cutting like the shards of sharp lies of unrevealed truth

It hides behind the smiles and hellos

That are only meant for encouragement

--not long lasting friendships

Like clockwork, it retains the deferment of future dreams and ignores the dismissing time;

Sucked into the real world of trickling hours and fading day

Discouraged from deep, voidless empathy

Yet it dreams in the night

Dreams of future meaning for someone who thought of none

The emptiness hurts, but the lies drive it further into the dark

Left covered in hopes to hide the way you feel about the lies you believed about yourself

It’s all a lie, it’s a feigned relationship, it’s your invisibility in this world

The author's comments:

This poem is mean to portray the two sided emotions that come from callous words and the effects that accompany them. In essence, I wrote this poem to capture the empathy that some people can give out of pity rather than intentional kindness. Void and empty, their words destroy a persons value of what someone can truly think of these things; kindness or hope deferring depraved value. All of this is a reflection of some thoughts I continue to ponder as I see the things that go on in my life as well as the lives around me.
