Power
It seems like a knife cutting
Straight through butter:
Easy, smooth, and effortless.
But it’s just the opposite.
It is a skyscraper
in a lonely town:
Big, oversized, and dirty.
It is a half-done job.
It’s a painting with no color.
It’s a table with no legs.
It’s a bag with no bottom.
It’s a car with no wheels.
It is a vortex of greed.
It’s a black hole of rapacity.
Yet it’s always wanted.
It’s a one way street
With a dead end.
Once you have it
there is no coming back.
It is Power.

My name is Dante. I wrote this poem in class for a project and presentation. I was inspired to write this poem because of all the leaders on the news these day making such poor, selfish and rediculous decisions. I hope you enjoy!
