I Am From
I am from green grass in the summertime,
Slip n slides in mid-July,
Fireflies by the fireside,
And golden marshmallows roasted by pros.
I am from homemade pies that I never liked,
Playing Uno every single night,
Handmade artwork hanging on the fridge,
And finishing puzzles that I didn't begin.
I am from ice skating on frozen lakes,
Sharing one birthday with three cakes,
Open windows in late May,
And watching sandcastles wash away.
I am from picnics and road trips,
Goldfish instead of Cheez-Its,
Sunsets in a clear sky,
And never needing to check the time.
I am from a childhood of fun,
Countless hours in the sun,
Waiting for summer to come,
And happy memories on my mind.
