Light and Dark
I had loved a man of light and a woman of dark.
His effervescent presence,
as bright as the sun
And her weathered heart,
as deep as the ocean
showing me love I will never forget.
Not with the way I kissed her cheeks
When she cried,
The pain in her eyes never forgetting
the dark battles that would never see the light of day.
“I love you.” She said, kissing my head tenderly.
Not with the way I held his hand in the dark,
Ready to conquer any demons
That willed to cage him.
I had kissed his tears away,
Then understanding why
He had to leave,
For I do not wish to know why the caged bird sings.
I had his heart,
And him, mine
So when he had opened his cage,
I left him a kiss in the wind.
