- FOUR, DIVERGENT

Waiting is utterly hopeless,

He’s gone and will never return

Why am I chained down?

Chasing whales like a maniac,

Day and night fixating on a singular object

Not once looking at ‘his’ child.

Scorned, Scarred, Forgotten on land,

Widows need no death,

Robbed of ‘what ifs.’

Dawn to Dusk,

Raving on about some fish in a pond

Who do you think you are?

Pure selfishness all around,

Peg legged, who cares?

Everyone’s got problems

Silver and gold,

Trade it all,

To regain all that hope.

Simply a matter of time,

Here today, gone tomorrow,

Sooner or later this widow will have true family to call her own

I too loved,

Once upon a fairytale had another half,

Hands held, vows made.

Ripped from my arms,

One who held my heart,

To one who owned my body.

Collecting a debt he said,

Old man and his widow,

What a fine pair we make.

Mine still waits,

No crazy needs before me,

Even dreams could never compare.

This nightmare will end soon enough,

We’ll be gone before he sails,

Used and never seen.

Now reality and fantasy all the same,

Father and son reunite,

All these lies swallowed up with the old man and the pain he deserved.
