Redemption

Breathless and aching.
The air about us
Still buzzing with anxiety and excitement.
Unzipping our jackets and heading towards our bus.
Out of the positive atmosphere
Came an asteroid of uncertainty
“What if it wasn’t good enough?”
“I didn’t do this right.”
All the things that were once beautiful,
In my eyes,
Were covered with a layer of doubt.
A wonderful melody turned sharp
But we worked so hard.
What could have gone wrong?
Nothing.
“Heads held high entering the field should be held high leaving it”
I said to the doubters!
Should one missed step
Overshadow the amazing things we had done that day?
Because what we created together was more than that.
Coming together and telling a story
Of redemption
“Starting from nothing, we grew, and that is the best we could hope for”
Suddenly, a weight was lifted. Gone
Was the fear, the insecurity;
Replaced with smiles and nods of agreement.
“What we had created was special to us,
And if others can’t see it,
They missed what was meant to be seen:
Redemption.”
