I Sigh Wishfully as a Star
I sigh wishfully as a star,
Watching the people down below.
They seem so close yet are so far,
And I pray that they can feel my glow.
I smile as they scurry along, enjoying their night;
Seeing them so carefree is such a breathtaking sight.
But then there are the broken ones-
The people who are blind and cannot see,
And the mothers worried about their sons.
They send their wishes up to me.
I see them so sad, so blue
And try to make their dreams come true.
I strive to shine so clear and bright
For everyone to see.
They only see me when it’s night,
But I hope they’re proud of me.
Until I am part of their world, I will soar,
Wishing and hoping for something more.

I wrote this poem for English. It was made to relate my strengths with a natural object which was a star.
