More than friends
A brand new school year
New classes, new faces
Went to first period, had no friends
This was a problem I had to fix.
Met a boy who looked familiar
Went to the same middle school
We talked, had an instant connection
Maybe he’ll be my new friend
After the first class we parted ways
To only see each other tomorrow
But later in the day, saw him again.
In my third and fourth period we talked some more.
As time went on we became great friends
Together we would work on homework and projects
More time spent with one another, new feelings emerged
And we started to see each other outside of school.
We bowled, ate and watched movies whenever we could
Everytime we hung out he made me nervous, in a good way
That’s when our lives were going to change
I was feeling different and I knew he was too.
Being friends was great, but I wanted something more
After months of friendship, I took my shot
Was anxious, even when his answer was clear
And that marked the beginning of a new relationship.
A new stage of my life, full of many firsts
All a little awkward, but mostly sweet
Now he’s more than just a friend, he is my best friend
That I will cherish till the end of time.
