“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.”
― Robert Frost

I spin around in my little wooden box,

My arms extended upwards, reaching,

Head back, point your toes, ignore the pain.

I spin on my axis, the perfect little dancer.

I yearn to leap and fly and jump,

To spin the other way, to soar

Above my wooden, velvet cage,

And out the door and far away.

I want to dance without these shoes,

These pale pink slipper bindings.

I want to feel the sandy shores beneath my feet

While I jump and turn and leap.

If only this box wouldn’t lock or close,

If you would set my free to dance.

If only I could have a second chance,

I would turn the opposite way.

Nothing would hold me to the ground,

Or teather me to this wooden box.

They say nothing is truly lost, but I plan to be.

So lost that I will never be found.

So, when you’re not looking at your caged bird,

I’ll slip off my shoes and let down my hair

And fly far away from here, away from you

Turning counterclockwise in the air.

This was inspired by a jewelry box! Enjoy!

Thank you! Haha, that’s very kind of you to say. Thanks, I wrote this in math class after I looked at some drawings. Thank you so much!
