My Mother
My mother wears the colors of her home on her tongue.
The thick accent stumbling to make a beauitful sound
soothes my heart indefinitely.
I am blessed everyday
as listening to her speak in her mother's tongue steadies me.
My mother's laugh reminds me of all the worlds she's traveled to.
It reminds of my the love she has with my father,
the things she finds funny,
and watching my favorite childhood show with her.
My mother loves a lot of things, especially food.
She loves to adorn her pallete in bitter and spicy tastes,
but at the same time,
she loves the taste of mangoes and smoothies.
Her appetite is never sated,
but that means her tastebubs can live a good life.
My mother cares for everyone,
regardless of skin color, language, sexuality, or origin.
She welcomes everybody she's met with kind words and open arms.
She loves the world,
for it hugs and takes care of everything she aspires to be.
I love my mother,
for she is the embodiment of my goals and so much more.
I cherish her
because even though I've given her so muc pain,
she'll always love me,
And forever, I'll always love her back.
