The invisible disease.

No visible signs of the infection

No lesion, cough, or rash in sight

A disease we strive to heal

With no cure in sight.

Some turn to drugs,

Others to therapy.

Anything to numb the pain.
Trying anything to escape.

The disease has turned

Scholars to tweakers,

Ambition to fantasy

Innocent kids to zombies.

This disease is in all of us.

We need to stop fighting it.

We need to Begin accepting, begin loving

And Begin supporting.

The author's comments:

This is a poem I wrote about how it feels to have anxiety and how all of us try so hard to run from it but at one point it needs to just be accepted. I also went into how people deal with it because I have seen in my own life how ravaging the effects of anxiety could be on life and that is what inspired me. I've seen kids fall into a hole of drugs trying to self medicate and some take meds and become walking zombies all to try and escape the anxiety.
