Drowned in the Dream

The gilded wine of greed
Afflicts with merciless addiction
The silken gloves of elite,
Who constantly covet more
To sate the unceasing thirst.
Like a sailor suffocating
In the sea’s seeping embrace,
They drown in the dazzling gleam
Of the bloodied gold
That flows from coffers of corruption,
Gasping for the air that eludes them.
