lost ( in one's mind )
As I stood
wondering,
my feet planted as
strong as Your brothers
I ask myself
“Why are you so different from the rest?”
You are much smaller than the others.
why do You choose to live here?
They take everything... yet somehow,
You still flourish.
You stand short, but I know You’re greater than the rest
because of your spirit.
I want to be just like You.
You are my favorite because
You’re different.
I don’t care much for the others,
I could only say the same for each.
Big & Strong, they are all about the same.
You stand a little cRoOkEd with Your branches a little lower
and Your bark a little lighter. You’re just a child.
Just like me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I’ve been taught to think
of others and what I can
do for only them.
Yet right now, I can only
think of my own self.
You only think of
how much you can give to me.
I don’t do the same.

This piece was written in the advanced creative writing class I'm enrolled in. It's part of an 18-piece series that I've been working on at school. Visually it's a tree figure, but looking past it's much deeper. Thank you for taking time to read!
