I Know This Universe
I know this it is incredible to be alive on this Earth
It always was
It always will be
I know this what you do with that gift is
Your own responsibility and
An unfathomable privilege
I know this the universe is vast
I think that whether a creator did its job or not, we got lucky
I think this pale blue dot is the only place we’ve got
We must treat the Earth as our beat up little homeless shelter
It is our loss
We need to listen to those who beg to have a voice
We need to hear those who have an idea
We need to respect all people with love in their hearts
The people who care more than we do
I know that anything worth doing wasn’t easy
I know nothing I do will ever be enough
I know I can fight through it and triumph over myself from yesterday
We need to recognize the chance we’ve been given
We need life… We deserve life
We owe it to ourselves to recreate the beauty we have experienced before
And find a way to enjoy this beauty with everyone else
Paint me idealistic Paint me hopeless Paint me Sean
I am a stupid optimist.
