The House, The Purpose
My door squeaks as someone pushes it open.
They enter with no invatation inside.
My cob webs try to stop them.
My old floor boards creek as they pass through the entry hall.
My resident spiders head for the exit.
My mice hide safely in my walls.
They look through my rooms curtain tattered.
They look out my windows all of which are shaddered.
They-the humans left onlt to come back days later.
I wish I could understand thier babble and chatter.
The humans came back this time with a thing I believe they are called machines.
I hear a crash in the kitchen.
I served well my purpose of hospitality.
I'm thinking about my old human residents as
Their desendants are destorying me.
As my whole structure cries,
I whisper "Goodbye."
