Constant Reminders
When the day faded
and the stars came out,
I remembered the times
when you used to come over,
and we would play around.
As the moonlight weaves its way through my blinds,
I remember how you found me when I was lost.
I wished I could have done the same for you
but it was too late; not a day goes by
without me thinking about what could have happened if I did.
And whenever the crickets start chirping,
playing their eerie soundtrack as if the night was a horror movie,
I think about the comfort you gave me
when I was too scared to do anything.
And even though we were young then, I still get scared.
Now when the day breaks,
I think about how everything eventually ends.
And nothing lasts forever,
so the day goes on
until night comes again.

Samuel Geevarghese enjoys traveling to different countries and learning about their cultures. Since his unique coin collection is not nearly enough to pay for his dream vacation to the Maldives, he has to get a real job. To offset the stress from his daily life, he plays with his dog, listens to music, and watches movies with his friends.
