Child Prodigy

A girl smiled—

Holding her two brothers’ hands.

She held onto the hands tightly,

Fearing that one day they will disappear.

Her kingdom’s streets were barren,

Probably because my big brothers are here.

She had thought,

Aware of her big brothers’ tyranny.

The oldest one,

Whose charm was one of a god’s,

Started up a conversation with her.

She smiled,

Holding his hands even tighter.

She was afraid to let go.

She talked to him happily

Before the second oldest brother entered.

Soon, the older one redirected his attention to the other brother.

She only nodded her head,

Waiting for the streets to become filled with noises.

Though, there was only silence

Except for some quiet begging from the people

Her brothers took from.

She stared at them with a look in her eyes.

Was she perhaps pitying them or was she planning on—

Stopping the treatment?

A girl smiled—

A smile full of sadness

As she held a child’s hand with both of her hands,

Tears leaking from her eyes.

Don’t leave! I-I’ll save you. Just don’t go to sleep yet!

She cried as her whole world fell down.

The poor boy just laid in his bed,

A small smile on his face.

A face full of youth of hope turned toward her,

The liveliness of his face slowly faded away.

Don’t cry for me. Just promise me one thing.

He whispered,

Before signaling her to come closer.

The girl did as she leaned toward the boy.

Her eyes widened at words she heard.

The room was decorated with rich colors,

Velvet, dark purple, midnight blue!

Yet, it didn’t fit the situation.

The atmosphere was just as gloomy as ever as the boy—

Took his last breath.

A girl smiled—

As she tried hiding her guilts and regrets.

The prodigy had done something unforgivable.

She teared up as many bodies laid on the ground.

Her brothers’ armies continued fighting against the people—

Who were the ones involved in a Resistance?

She made a promise and she kept it.

After all—

The prodigy’s regrets were many,

The current one was—

Betraying her brothers
