it all started with a petal
it all started with a petal
falling from my mouth like a droplet of silky blood
softly it hit the ground
yet it shattered the earth like a meteor
it started with you
my silent tears fell yet you didn’t notice
softly it hit the ground
yet you didn’t notice with her around
then a flowers’ bell coughed its way up
white and made of finely sewn linens
softly it hit the ground
yet it made a gentle clang against the dirt
then she began to be there more
my easy love flowed from my eyes
softly it hit the ground
yet she turned you away from the puddle
soon it became a whole flower clambering its way up
a bloody daffodil, sickeningly beautiful
softly it hit the ground
yet its beauty lasted but for a moment
soon it became all about her
my weakening heart wretched at the sight
softly it hit the ground
yet it didn’t change your mind
finally the vines came too
choking the victim from the inside, its greenery filled with white petals
softly it hit the ground
yet it made no sound
finally she took you away
away from me and my love
softly i hit the ground
yet you weren’t there to hear
