Favorite Quote:
You know my name, not my story!

Pass the butter, hand the bread

Don’t be dramatic -- nobody is dead

Carve the turkey, open the booze

But switch the channel if it is news

Sprinkle the pepper, pour the sauce

Swallow cheese with the pain and the loss

Just because the leaves turn gold

And there was a feast in days of old

A man on a pedestal flaunts his crown

Reduces an empire to a ghost town

We apparently love him -- it’s been reported

A toast to that, before we get deported

Close the curtains, god, what a racket

That officer’s gun is not in his jacket

Just another man screaming for his life

Grab the remote, mute his strife

Eat your vegetables, sip your brew

Gays in prison don’t get what you do

Drink that water, like your mother said

God knows what’s in it, other than lead

So what if that burger is dipped in car grease?

Can’t someone let us just eat in peace?

Our hunger for denial, thirst for more time

Just a few more seconds of joy and prime

When it’ll be us, just like everyone said,

Someone else shall pass the butter, hand the bread.

A very rhythmic piece. A mindset of ignorance is common among those that choose to see only what’s before them and not around them. You’ve captured this so well!

While I personally do believe that news has become somewhat of a commodity and resource for click bait, this piece does challenge those who look at the world from a point of subliminal ignorance. Keep up the good work <3
