Unusual Observer
People often forget how lucky they are
Being able to travel so far
However, I am bound to one spot
In one little yard, that’s all I’ve got.
I envy children who run so fast.
I would love to play, but no ones ever asked.
People often pass by in a hurry.
I wonder why they worry.
What could possibly be so important
That would cause someone’s walk to shorten?
People often forget how lucky they are
To be able to gaze up at the stars.
My view is fixed in one way,
And I’m afraid that way it will stay.
Despite this, I enjoy everything I see
The world is filled with much beauty,
But why don’t people take the time to enjoy it?
This is very sad, I’ll admit.
I often forget how lucky I am
To be able to cherish life’s program.
To be blessed,
Free from unrest,
Free from responsibilities,
That test a person’s capabilities
To cope with what challenges are presented
And leave someone’s sanity dented.
But not me.
I’m free, mostly.
So what’s the lesson to take out of my story?
It’s not so bad being a tree.
