One by one,

They trickle into the room,

Conversation rolling off of their tongues.

Surrounded by strangers,

Opportunity looms.

I see you,

Bobbing in a sea of people.

 

You pull me in,

As we crash into each other and break away.

Gasping for air,

I let out a roar.

Heart pounding,

My emotions bubbling up,

My hope ebbing away.

 

Receding is not an option,

You latch on to me.

Your breath is drenched in alcohol,

I am drowning in your love.

Alas, all is tranquil,

But I will not be the last.

Your affection comes in violent waves.
