The Wooden Catalyst
You are a little worn
You are a little beat up
Just like me
You’ve seen sweat bead
On sunburnt foreheads
You’ve seen tears fall
From tired eyes
You know the difference
Between follower and leader
Between inexperienced and seasoned
Because you’re more than just some chipped wood
And white tape
You’re a catalyst.
A catalyst that aided the difficult tasks
Of maturity and self-growth
And while banging on a drum
For 3 to 8 hours at day
May be a fun way to spend your school year,
It’s also a great way
To make lifelong friendships
And learn life’s most important lessons
