Who Am I?
Who am I?
Am I a bud that formed into a beautiful flower
Am I a caterpillar who grew into an extraordinary butterfly
Am I a seed who grew into a bright tree, hanging with freshly-scented fruit
Who am I?
Am I just a hue of color?
Am I just a piece of a race?
Am I just another generation who is a disgrace?
Who are we?
Are we people sitting in chairs, not wanting to learn, not wanting to be here?
Are we lofty goals that are not going to be accomplished?
Are we just lists of problems that can’t be fixed?
Who are we?
Are we just people that have different beliefs?
Are we just people who breathe in oxygen, and breathe out carbon dioxide?
Are we made up of so many opinions, but no resolutions?
Who can I be?
Can I be a diamond, shining bright in the sky?
Can I just be me, someone, who lives to be free, who lives to be me?
Can I just be a wishing star, who brings our eyes to the sky, to our dreams?
Who are we?
Are we just people who know what to say, but not know how to take a chance?
Are we people who take a step forward, worrying about the empty space we leave behind?
Are we people who just stand up and fight for what is ours
Who are we?
Are we people who act like we have no dignity
Are we young men and women who can’t stand to think of our future, think of what is ours
Are we people who wake up not caring about our education.
Who am I?
I am Jaynelly Santiago
I am STRONG, I am a WARRIOR

It took a while for me to write this poem. It came to me in bits and pieces. It all started one day I was on the school bus on my way home and I was just taking in nature, it just started coming to me. I started to jot down the notes and-boom that's when this poem came out. I hope you enjoy it.
