Who do I want to be
Who do I want to become
Who am I
Before I asked these grueling questions, I was different
I solely cared about me
I acted only in self interest
Took no risks
Followed all of life’s rules
And calculated every move I made
What would they surmise
What would I do
How would I benefit
But after some self reflection
A loss of many close friends
A couple broken bones
And a couple broken souls
I wanted to change
I wanted a new me
What do I want now
I want the world to genuinely enjoy my presence
Not the fraudulent front I put out for others
But me
I want to sincerely care for people, so they can truly value me as a friend
For being an honest person
Doing loving things
But what really matters is
Who am I
Am I there yet
After 16 I’s, 4 me’s and 2 self’s
I still have a long journey to complete
But what really matters is
I’m growing
I’m changing
And I’m trying
