Mother why?

Why do you snort and shoot?

You’ve turned yourself into a prostitute

I went mute

And I just can’t compute

Mother why?

Why do you run away?

You’re always disappearing and not endearing

You can separate parent from child

Which is very wild

You see, I try to hold my smile

Whenever I see you again after a while

But instead you cry,

Claiming this is a goodbye

Mother why?

What’s so good about getting high?

When you could be getting clean,

And slaying dreams like a queen

I know it takes time

To stop committing these crimes

But no matter what, I can’t change genes

And I’m only in my teens

Dealing with the pain

And getting numb like novocaine

We don’t get along as well anymore

I guess that’s what happens when a tornado

Meets a volcano

But the question is…

Mother why?
