The Dotted Line
There it was
The familiar yet unknown yellow dotted line
We followed it until we ran out of road
It was the best leader we could’ve had
Miles upon miles
Rest stops upon rest stops
Laughter that never ceased
We talked for 13 hours
Just you and me, the good and the bad
Awkward moments bled into the most memorable
Opinions were shared, insecurities spilt
Aspirations, fears, joys, pet peeves, and some weird facts joined in
We were vulnerable and it was scary
But the way you reacted to me, my truth, my feelings, my ways
Truly made me fall in love with you
We shared multiple gatorades and red bulls, when needed
Switching who drove after one of us would apologetically fall asleep in the passenger seat
It was like a movie, sunrise until sunset,
I spent looking at your attractive profile
I especially loved when you would glance over at me and give me a soft smile,
almost as though we were thinking the same thing...
Wow this has got to be too good to be true
I see you the next day and think I truly know you…
Do you actually hate when people walk slow and love peaceful spring mornings
Was is it all made up, a false reality, or was it God’s way of nudging me and giving me a wink
Hinting that I had found the one
I wish that my dream could one day become a reality
Endlessly and unapologetically following the yellow dotted line
The dotted line that leads us into our hopeful future together
