In the heat of the night, I see myself crying
it was a gamble, I knew before trying
the old familiar ways that once worked before
no longer work for me anymore

In the heat of the night, I’m not the joker
I sit in my stupor, alone and mediocre
my life is a game of Black Jack
a scatter of sorrowful thoughts and knick knacks

In the heat of the night, I cry all alone
watching Rocky reruns of Stallone
galiantly muscular, he is the ace
all his battles are won with a punch to the face

In the heat of the night, I draw blindly
as all of my backdoors begin unwinding
it’s a bad beat, a rough road
but it’s better than all that’s been known

In the heat of the night, I still hold ‘em
I toss ‘em and turn ‘em and fold ‘em
'til death do us all in
I won’t back down til I win

When I get stressed out, I watch Rocky. It's a very empowering movie.
