The Stranger
The stranger walked in to town,
He was unknown,
even to himself.
He went through the struggle,
everyday,
of not knowing who he was.
He didn’t have any courage until the day he met himself.
He went out- alone.
He went to see where the hyacinths grew along the glistening streams.
All he could hear was the soft symphony of water moving.
He went to the COLDEST ends of the earth and saw all seasons in action.
He went to where there was caribou running on the tundra,
he climbed the snow capped mountains,
he crossed the dreadful, hot deserts.
Deserts more desolate than the surface of Venus.
With turkey vultures circling above as he walked.
Nights were brutal but still he still drove on.
One evening.... he could feel it.
He could feel that he knew himself.
He found the meaning of his life.
He spent the rest of it living in the wild.
Never settling down.
He was like a leaf blowing in the wind.
Always moving from one place to another,
never stopping.
Experiencing the world for himself.

This is one of my best pieces I think. I spent a good amount of time writing this poem and I think it really represents someone who may not know themselves.
