The Cost
It’s Valentine’s day today.
You know what that means.
It means cute little cards,
Love notes, hidden
Under bits of money.
It means sweet chocolate.
Buy an ocean of candy.
It means flower bundles,
Killed, cut down in their prime,
Petals dyed.
Perfect.
Everything must be flawless.
If it’s not, watch out.
The day of love is the day love dies.
The greedy markets,
Cupid’s wicked henchmen,
They stole our love,
Ripped from my shaking hands.
They put a price tag on it.
It waved from the skyscrapers
Far above my head,
While she chased it.
Why can’t we have the bliss
Of times long ago?
Go back to when
One heartfelt kiss
Could make someone’s day.
Hugs were gold,
Words were silver,
They were gifts to cherish
More than any store can offer.

There's not much to say about me, I'm just your average high school senior trying to find a hobby. I found this website and I adore it.
