Wish
A candle, lit, inside the hall
where pictures and pictures lined up the walls
leading to the staircase, spiraling to the top
where the young astronomer looked up to the stars
The astronomer gazed, awestruck by the beauty
of stars, constellations, so much mystery
he saw Libra, Pisces, Cancer, and Aries
and wondered about the future the world was approaching
The wind howled, scaring the clouds
who came together, covering the stars,
and the night grew even darker, a looming abyss
to the young astronomer who gave a great sigh
as he prepared to enter the staircase, saying good night
to his love, his passion, his little obsession.
“Just one more glance,” he wished, closing his eyes.
As the young astronomer prepared to descend,
his eyes opened wide, startled by a sudden flash in the sky
as a shooting star streaked across the heavens
granting his wish and making a promise
“See you tomorrow, we’ll meet again.”
