Goodbye

I raced to the end,
water sloshing.
At last- at last.
I leaped into the water.
I was so happy,
for the little sandy beach by the docks,
for the ducks at the pond.
I feel his
hand come and
stroke my head.
For the first time in
a long time...
I was happy.
so now I say...
Goodbye.
