The Summer I Was Fourteen
The utmost euphoria made
by waking up without a
beep
beeP
beEP
bEEP
BEEP
impeding my deep slumber.
And the warm, freeing feeling
of the incubator sun
on my skin.
The sound of my friends’ voices
filling my head
and the fuzzy feeling
caused by seeing their faces.
The tickling sensation on my skin
from earth’s small
green fingers.
The chilling sensation
from the sweet
bubbly taste of soda.
The distant choir of birds
and the blanket of wind
wrapped around
My entire being.
This is summer.
