Where I'm From
I’m from a place I thought was safe,
and thinking I liked by my peers.
From thinking I was mentally unstable,
to not knowing who I was.
I’m from a place where I stand out and not like the others,
from the personalities that filled those clothed in white.
A place that is superior just by the colors of their skin,
not knowing whether they were or not.
I’m from a place where darkness surrounds me,
from a world of dark ideology unspoken.
From the thoughts of painting the world the way I see it fit,
to not knowing if I will be able to control myself in time.
I’m from a place where it is dark and grey,
from a place where people only pay attention to themselves.
A place where the wrong hair can make someone the target,
not knowing who they single out is actually made of.
I’m from a place where anyone can cope.
A place where playing Aggravation can be a good day,
to the love of those around them outweighs the yoke of misery,
not knowing just how much those people mean to me.
I’m from a place where I am accepted,
racing side by side in cross country races.
From going out with friends to Sweet Dreams,
To not knowing what would come next.
