Three cabins
I am from the Three Cabins
that sit silently on the lake property.
From the northern pines swaying in the breezy morning air.
From the sharp rocks pushing my cousins’ and my feet
as we wonder the gravel driveway.
I am from crashing waves of the lake that
lay just behind the Three Cabins.
From the fishing adventures at the bottom of the pier
where my cousins and I let our feet dangle.
From the seaweed we feel bushing against our legs every afternoon
as we swim through the lake. From the tube rides across the lake where
we will not forget being flung off like floppy fish.
I am from the campfires, where my
family sits and enjoys each other,
laughing till we can't anymore.
From the mosquitos that punctured our skin
leaving us with scratchy red bumps.
From the Three Cabins that sat silently listening to the laughs
coming from the family sitting around the crackling campfire.
