Where I'm From
I am from the salt water of the Pacific Ocean.
I am from the sailboats of the Puget Sound sitting mast to mast appearing as a forest floating along the docks.
I am from 50 foot evergreens towering everywhere that there isn’t a house, building, or street.
I am from four rainy seasons, but not as rainy as people think.
I am from seeing Mount Rainier painted on the horizon with its own series of colors and clouds floating above it like halo’s, different everyday.
I am from the home of the first two-tailed mermaid painted on a coffee cup.
I am from where socks and sandals mean I’m going on a hike, not making a fashion statement.
I am from waking up smelling like a campfire and unzipping a tent to get out of bed on a summer night.
I am from where legendary music is born and Jimi Hendrix rests in peace.
I am from where 30 pound fish are thrown from man to man dressed in orange waders across the market as they shout in joy.
I am from Washington
