What You Do Not Know

Outwardly I may seem kind and energetic.

But in my heart I am constantly hurting.

Hurting because school is so damn stressful.

Hurting because I have zero self-confidence.

Hurting because I feel alone.

Outwardly I may seem eager to constantly help others.

But in my heart I do that because I am never helped.

Never helped with my mountains of school work.

Never helped to gain more friends.

Never helped when I need it most.

Outwardly I may seem confident in everything that I do.

But in my heart I am not confident.

Not confident with the answers that I put on my tests.

Not confident with singing in public despite my angelic voice.

Not confident in how my body looks.

Outwardly I may seem shy and not talkative.

But give me a moment and I will open up to you.

I will tell you all of my deepest secrets.

I will tell you all of my thoughts.

I will make you cry with laughter.

I will make you shriek with glee.

Someone never really knows what someone else is going through.

So do not be quick to judge,

Quick to isolate,

Quick to give up on.

Because if you just give them a chance,

They will tell you everything about them

That you did not know before.
