Chameleon Love

You sting like honeybees,
bleed like mockingbirds,
and love chameleons---
you change colors for me.
See, when my father
became a shapeshifter
it became dreadful
to look for eyes
He turned my mind into bruised melon
as I became a stew of expression---regression
I’m torn from who I once was.
This fall is melancholy,
the same way love
seems to run inconsistent.
