In Some Sad Way
In some sad way
Is it art?
The inevitable
Young minds overflowed
Reading love letters
Like gospel
And truths
Like recommendations
Bleeding hearts
Off our sleeves
It was nothing like it was before
So just for a while
We stay like this
Sustained in the moment
That escapes recall
Are you real?
I should hope not
The state of consciousness
Taints the unconsciousness
Outward infringing on inward
So stay perfect
As you are in my mind
It is the natural order
For tortured souls
Not even yet two decades through
With pain to last a lifetime
To forget willfully
For the chance of euphoria
They say
Relax in your being
Settle your soul
Take it easy
Give a good show
A flower in the hand
Or a garden in the mind?
Promise me
You won’t pick me
Until I’m ready
There’s no such thing
As wonderland on earth
They are fever dreams at best
But life gives
The best way it knows how
The space between the two
That is where I pace
