Mon Evolution

I begged to be free

of this body capturing me.

Snares me so tight,

I cannot inhale

nor wish to.

Please set me free

“to be me”

let my soul rove,

 it is he

not she.

Voice breeds deeper

as my soul calls,

a son

a man

me.

So, convert me,

free from she,

living in fear,

fear of living

“to be me”  said he.

The author's comments:

There is much mis-understanding about individuals that have gender-dysphoria. There are many "trans-issues" that affect the lives of us. Many teens are bullied and not accepted, even by their own families. Suicide, addiction, and many mental health problems are part of being transgender. By writing poetry that expresses my emotions, I hope to let others know that we are human. In a country that is becoming split and transphobia is on the rise, my hope is that spreadig knowledge about "being trans" can make our world a little more bearable.
